Calorie tracking from photos

A photo of your meal — calories and nutrients on screen

Mira uses AI to recognize the dish, estimate the portion and calculate calories and nutrients from your photo. No searching a food database or weighing every ingredient. You can easily correct the dish or portion if needed.

  1. Step 1.Snap your meal

The Today screen with the menu for adding dinner open: photo, voice or text, with Photo selected

On the Today screen, press and hold the ring for your meal, then choose Photo. You can also add food by voice or by typing in the chat.

  2. Step 2.See calories and nutrients

Photo analysis: the recognized dish, estimated portion, calories, protein, fat, carbs, fiber and sugar

Mira shows the dish she recognized, the estimated portion, and its calories, protein, fat, carbs, fiber and sugar.

  3. Step 3.Log it and see what’s left

Diary: the week strip, calories plus protein, fat and carbs for the day, meals with dish photos

Mira has already filled in the dish, portion and time. Tap “Log to diary” to update your daily totals and see how many calories you have left.

  • Recognizes different dishes

Home-cooked meals, restaurant food and dishes with several ingredients.

  • Counts more than calories

Shows protein, fat, carbs, fiber, sugar and salt for the estimated portion.

  • Easy to correct

Tell Mira what to change, by voice or text, and she recalculates the result.

Research

A food diary helps you see your habits

In a study, people who kept a food diary almost every day lost about twice as much weight

A Kaiser Permanente study followed 1,685 people in a weight-loss program. Those who logged their food at least 6 days a week lost about twice as much weight as those who rarely kept records. This was an association in the study, not a promise of results with Mira. Hollis J. F. et al., American Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2008

Mira makes keeping a food diary easier: add a meal by photo, voice or chat, check the result and save it. It’s a simple way to notice what you eat and when.

Every day

Mira supports you throughout the day

Mira reminds you of your plan in the morning, shows what’s left after a meal and reviews your day in the evening. Her advice appears in the app and in notifications if you enable them.

FAQ

Your questions, answered

Have another question? Email us at info@neuro-mira.com.

How accurate is Mira with photos?

Mira estimates ingredients and portion size, so the calculation is approximate. If anything needs correcting, just tell her and she’ll recalculate. Progress depends on the bigger picture of your eating habits: Mira uses your diary and trends to adapt her recommendations to your goal and help you gradually build better habits. This makes daily logging part of sustainable progress.

What if Mira gets it wrong?

Tap “Say what to fix” and type or say what needs changing: “that’s bulgur, not buckwheat”, “remove the bread”, or “the portion was smaller”. Mira recalculates the meal. You can also edit an entry that’s already saved in your diary.

Does it work with labels and packaging?

Yes. Photograph the nutrition table on the package. Mira reads the values per 100 g and calculates them for your portion. Keep the entire label in the frame and make sure the text is clear.

Do I need to sign up?

No. The app creates an account automatically when you first open it, so you can start adding food straight away. To keep your diary when you change phones, link your account to Apple, Google or your email in settings.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On your iPhone: Settings → Apple ID (your name at the top) → Subscriptions → AI Mira → Cancel Subscription. Mira Pro stays active until the end of the paid period.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete. Your data is erased immediately and can’t be restored. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so if you have Mira Pro, cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

Is this a medical service?

No. Mira helps with eating and habits, but she doesn’t diagnose anything and doesn’t replace a doctor. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or follow a special diet, check with your doctor first.

Which devices does it work on?

The app works on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. Mira widgets on Apple Watch display data synced from your iPhone.
